Dr. Robinowitz has been engaged in the clinical practice of general, child and adolescent psychiatry for four decades. Concurrently, she has played prominent and diverse roles in medical education and evaluation, in counseling on national psychiatry and health policies and in helping to advance the role of women in the professions. She is the former Dean of the Georgetown University School of Medicine and a former Associate Dean for students and Professor of Psychiatry at that institution.

Throughout her career, Dr. Robinowitz has devoted a large share of her energies to promoting and enhancing the mission of the American Psychiatric Association, where she has served as President, Senior Deputy Medical Director, Chief Operating Officer and Founding Director of the Office of Education.
