Jeffrey Borenstein, M.D. is Appointed Chief Medical Officer of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation

(GREAT NECK, N.Y. – November 7, 2012)  Dr. Jeffrey Borenstein, a board certified psychiatrist, host of the public television series, Healthy Minds and Editor-in-Chief of Psychiatric News, has been appointed as Chief Medical Officer of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.

Benita Shobe, Foundation CEO said, “We are honored to have such a distinguished psychiatrist as our Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Borenstein has vast knowledge of mental health from multiple viewpoints—as a psychiatrist, an academic, a TV host, and as a writer and editor.” Dr. Borenstein will serve as a Foundation spokesperson as well as scientific/medical editor for Foundation publications.

Dr. Borenstein, a graduate of Harvard University and New York University School of Medicine, is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry of Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr. Borenstein is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and serves as the Chair of the Section of Psychiatry at the Academy. Additionally, Dr. Borenstein chairs the Council on Communications of the American Psychiatric Association and has served as the President of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems.
