Story highlights

Drs. Terrie Moffitt and Avshalom Caspi from Duke University and King’s College London, were honored with the 2010 Ruane Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Childhood Psychiatric Disorders at the NARSAD National ‘Discovery to Recovery’ Awards Dinner in October. They use longitudinal data to study how the environment and genes interact to shape children’s mental health. Applying the tools of psychology, epidemiology and neuroscience to their data, while working across 3 continents, this remarkable couple has made significant contribution to understanding the causes of mental illness. Their research points toward enabling predictive models of adult mental health from childhood behavior patterns.
