Brain & Behavior Research Foundation

Jeffrey Borenstein, M.D., serves as the President & CEO of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the largest private funder of mental health research grants. Dr. Borenstein developed the Emmy-nominated public television program “Healthy Minds,” and serves as host and executive producer of the series. The program, broadcast nationwide, is available online, and focuses on topics in psychiatry in order to educate the public, reduce stigma and offer a message of hope. Dr. Borenstein served as Editor-in-Chief of Psychiatric News, the newspaper of the American Psychiatric Association from 2012 - 2023.

Dr. Borenstein is a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and serves as the Chair of the Section of Psychiatry at the Academy. He also has served as the President of the New York State Psychiatric Association. Dr. Borenstein earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard and his medical degree at New York University.

Louis Innamorato, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the management and oversight of all fiscal matters, grants program and operations for BBRF.  He prepares and maintains the accounting records, budgeting and financial reporting of the organization’s activities.  Mr. Innamorato is a certified public accountant with over 25 years of experience including more than a decade of providing professional auditing, accounting and business advisory services.  Prior to joining BBRF, he was an Audit Manager in the New York City office of PricewaterhouseCoopers servicing clients in a variety of industries with specialization in the non-profit area.  Mr. Innamorato earned a B.S. in Accounting from The College of Business Administration at Saint John’s University.  He is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Lauren Duran is responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of all Foundation communications.  With more than 15 years of senior management experience in health communications, Lauren oversees all strategic and operational communications initiatives including leadership and oversight of media relations, public relations, marketing, publications, and the website. Lauren came to the Foundation from The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse where she served as the Director or Communications. Her prior experience includes Senior Public Relations Manager/Publicist for the CEOs of the fashion brand FUBU and writing and producing television programming for a wide range of network cable channels. Her credits include PBS’s Emmy® Award-winning Reading Rainbow, Martha Stewart’s Home for the Holidays: The Family Tree and Lifetime’s Intimate Portraits of Sally Field, Audrey Hepburn and Bette Davis.

Faith Rothblatt is responsible for the oversight and management of Foundation fundraising and programming. With 15 years of experience, she oversees day to day activities including major donors, special events, prospect research, educational outreach and programming, direct mail, planned giving and donor relations. Her prior experience includes the American Jewish Committee where she served as Assistant Director and Marketing Director. In addition, Faith was a Director at Cablevision on the launch of video-on-demand and worked at Young & Rubicam/WCJ on the United Stated Postal Account. At the Pacific Design Center, she served as Marketing Director, managing design, architecture and events and programming for Los Angeles charitable and corporate communities.
